- Navigate to the Gradebook.
- Select Markable items.
- Drag and drop rows to reorder them by clicking on the ‘move total’ arrows ‘↑↓’ at the end of the item you wish to reorder.
- Navigate to the Gradebook
- Navigate to the Marks view by clicking on Marks in the top-left section of the Gradebook.
- Click on the Up/Down icon in one column:
- Once to organise the data by ascending marks
- Twice to organise the data by descending marks
- Thrice to remove the ordering of data.
- Navigate to the Students view by clicking on Students in the top-left section of the Gradebook.
- Click on the Up/Down icon in one column:
- Once to organise the data by descending number order/alphabetically
- Twice to organise the data by ascending number order/reverse-alphabetical order.
- Thrice to remove the ordering of data.
Warning: THE USE OF MESSAGES TO STUDENTS VIA BLACKBOARD IS NOT RECOMMENDED AND EMAILS SHOULD BE USED AS A STANDARD FOR ALL CRITICAL INFORMATION PERTAINING TO ASSESSMENTS. Whilst the messaging system provides some initial convenience to the sender, it may inhibit the recipient student’s ability to reply to communications, lead them to miss key information, leave them uncertain who they should respond to, leave their response unchecked, or inhibit the accessibility of the communication depending on the student’s needs and equipment. Consequently, guidance on this aspect of Blackboard has not been provided in full. If messaging is used at all, it is strongly recommended that:
- The option to “Send an email copy to recipients” is ALWAYS used.
- The email address of the sender is ALWAYS included alongside a message to respond via that address.
- Messages include a note to NOT email a response (as the email is sent from a no-reply email address).
- The option to “Allow replies to this message” is NEVER used (as these messages may not be immediately received, depending on the settings of the individual user)
To see who has and hasn’t submitted and to view submission dates and times:
- Navigate to the Gradebook and select Markable items.
- Find the relevant assessment and click on its name.
- Click inside the Student status box at the top of the page to sort the list of students by status. For those students who have submitted, the date and time of the attempt appears underneath the student’s name.
Warning: Deleting an attempt is irreversible. If a student requires an additional attempt, it is recommended that an additional attempt is given to the student rather than an attempt being deleted.
Warning: Deleting a submission from Turnitin will not automatically remove the record of that submission in Blackboard. Once the submission has been removed from Turnitin, the Blackboard record will continue to read New Submission or display the mark given to the submission before its deletion. Once a new submission is made to Turnitin, the record in Blackboard will be updated.
- Navigate to the submission point and click on its title to enter the Turnitin Assignment Inbox.
- Find the assignment you want to delete and click on the … icon in the far-right column, opening a context menu.
- Select between:
- Remove from inbox: if you want to remove the submitted item from the inbox immediately and enable resubmission. This will not remove the item from Turnitin’s repository, so if you have requested submissions are stored and similar material is subsequently submitted to any Turnitin-enabled submission point, similarity reports may have an inaccurate score.
- Request permanent deletion: if you want to delete the item from Turnitin’s repository of submitted work. This will ensure that subsequent, iterative work submitted to any Turnitin submission point will not be compared with miss-submitted work. This deletion process is not instantaneous.
- Click Confirm when prompted to start the deletion process.
