This approach enables you to provide offline feedback to students who have submitted or otherwise provided work offline, such as for presentations, oral assessments, or performances.
If the marks for this assessment need to be sent to SITS, you should set the assessment as a “BB Other” in eVision.
- Add a Test Student User to your course.
- Create a single group with all students taking the assessment, including your Test Student User.
- Set up a group assignment submission point.
- Either edit an existing assignment submission point:
- Navigate to the submission point on your course. This will normally be located in the unit’s Unit Assessment Learning Module.
- Select the … icon in the right-corner of the assessment and select Edit.
- Select the Cog icon in the top right of the page.
- Scroll down the options and select Assign to groups.
- Select the Group Set and Group you have just created.
- Select Save.
- In the top-right corner of the assessment, ensure that the visibility of the assessment is set to Visible to students.
- Or create one and set it up:
- Navigate to the location where you want to place the assessment. Normally, this will be in the course’s Unit Assessment Learning Module.
- Select the + icon in the course feed where you want to place the assessment and select Create and Assignment.
- Adjust settings as required, including setting a due date, etc. For more instructions on setting up a submission point, please refer to the Configure the assessment in Blackboard and Assigned Groups (Group Submissions) sections of the Blackboard Assignments Offline Workflow.
- In the top-right corner of the assessment, ensure that the visibility of the assessment is set to Visible to students.
- Either edit an existing assignment submission point:
- Log in and submit as the Test Student User:
- Keep your current Blackboard window open and use a different browser or incognito window to use your Test Student.
- Once you are in the course as the Test Student, submit some work. This submission document can be anything, but you should bear in mind that students will be able to see it when looking at their feedback and marks. A blank document called “Feedback” is suggested.
This workflow will send an email to all students advising they have submitted work to the course. To minimise confusion, it is important to communicate this to students in advance of submitting work.
- This submission will create a version of the submission for each student.
- Log out as your Test Student User.
- Unenroll your Test Student User from the course by returning to the View everyone on your course screen as an administrator.
- Provide feedback to each student on the course using the Marks and Feedback Extension as described in the Blackboard Assignments Offline Workflow.
If any students won’t be receiving marks and feedback, delete their row from the Excel spreadsheet before uploading.
- If the assessment is set in eVision, map marks to eVision column.
